Atlas Orthogonality refers to the proper alignment of the atlas vertebra beneath the skull, insuring the normal positioning of the vertebrae of the rest of the spinal column in relationship to each other. The result is a clear and unobstructed path for the spinal nerves, spinal cord, and vertebral arteries thereby permitting natural function, mobility and health.

Program Prerequisites
The doctor or student must have previously completed 100 hours of Basic A.O.T. seminars including one A.O.T. Dissection seminar.

Roy W. Sweat, D.C., is a 1949 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic. He is highly regarded in the areas of research and technique and is the creator of the Atlas Orthogonal Technique. This technique is a precise system of x-ray and spinal analysis which uses a specific method of adjusting the atlas subluxation. Dr. Sweat developed this system after years of research which began when he was an instructor of the Grostic upper cervical procedure. He has authored four books and published numerous articles. Dr. Sweat is the designer of the Atlas Orthogonal Adjusting Instrument, adjusting tables and x-ray machine attachments. He teaches Atlas Orthogonal courses and has 30 years of experience teaching in-depth dissection labs.

Matthew H. Sweat, D.C., graduated from Life College of Chiropractic in 1989. While attending Life College, he was awarded a research scholarship. He is Board Certified in Atlas Orthogonality and a member of the Board of Directors of the R.W. Sweat Research Foundation. Currently in private practice in Atlanta, GA., he has co-authored several articles on Electroencephalography of the brain damaged and epileptic children before and after chiropractic upper cervical adjustment, and has taught Atlas Orthogonality throughout the United States and Japan.
